Deadly Ship Fires Kill 30 as Dozens Remain Missing in Philippines and China
Five people have died, while 87 remain missing following a fire that broke out on the MV June Aster Ferry that was traveling from Manila. Out of 134 passengers, the Philippines Coast Guard has already saved 42 passengers, but the cause of the fire is still unknown as searches are ongoing at the time of writing this news report.
On the other hand, the fire that occurred on the Liberia-flagged dry bulk carrier Ocean Melody in China has led to the death of 25 people and five others are still injured due to the fire on board. Out of 42 people on board, 12 had managed to escape when the fire was put off by early afternoon in a shipyard in eastern China.
